Solway House, Ilam, Avonhead.
Gorgeous – a little metro, a little retro, exquisitely furnished and with a sprinkling of contemporary art, books and music by Cantabrians.  Basking in sunshine all day it exudes warmth and personality with two living rooms, kitchen with Rimu floor, and French doors to a terrace. It is insulated and truly warm in winter and summer with encompassing heating (no draughty heat pumps).  The terrace overlooks our grass tennis court and garden designed by Marion Morris and guests are welcome to enjoy it. The two bedrooms have five star hotel king beds (can be four singles), chic linen, and a selection of plump pillows. There is a bathroom and separate laundry each with a loo. The location is very quiet - people often comment, the house is fenced, quiet and private and has a security alarm.  Breakfast provisions can be provided. At 9 Solway Avenue it is well situated to walk to the University through the lovely Azalea, Rhododendron gardens of the Ilam Gardens.  The College of Education is two minutes away, shops are around the corner, and it’s seven minutes by car to the airport and 12 minutes to the city. Three different bus routes to the city pass the University, Westfield Mall and the Christchurch Hospital and are within a stone’s throw.  The Orbiter can be caught in Waimairi Road about five minutes walk away. Many of the city's attractions are in the North West so we are ideally situated for the Antarctic Centre, the Airforce Museum, Willowbank, Orana Park, Mona Vale, the Riccarton Market, Dean's Bush, Farmer's Market, Jelly Park Pool, Burnside Park Fendalton Bowling and Tennis Club, United Tennis Club in Hagley Park ,at least five golf courses, the Riccarton Library, Ilam Medical Centre, Untouched World's flagship store, Bush Inn shopping centre and cafes and the Avonhead shopping centre and cafes.

This house is just newly established. The rates vary with the season and length of stay and number of people. The mimimum stay is seven days. Short or long term rental rates can be negotiated.
